I have always wanted a place that is not shaped by platform formats.

This site began with inspiration from cali.so. What I want now is to leave an independent space on the internet that belongs to Wang Rui himself.
Beyond school, internships, clubs, and competitions, I have always felt that a person should not be reduced to what can be summarized on a resume. Some things belong in notes, some belong in photographs, and some are just passing thoughts from a certain stage of life that I do not want to lose too easily. They are not always polished, and not always mature, but they are still closer to me than any standardized introduction.
So I wanted a place of my own. Very often we are pushed to answer quickly, to compress ourselves into a few lines that other people can understand right away. But a real self does not grow like that. People usually only see the flowers; almost no one pays attention to how the seed first breaks through the soil.
This site is currently divided into a few parts. The notes page holds the experiences and thoughts I genuinely want to remember. The resume page sketches the version of Ray Wang that is meant to be reviewed. The guestbook and Ask Ray are there so visitors can leave behind a trace or an imprint of their own.
I hope the site can let first-time visitors know who I am quickly, while also giving those who stay a little longer more to see. Not only results, and not only labels, but something fuller and more human.
Technically it is still a lightweight static site. It is built mostly with HTML, CSS, and a little JavaScript, and deployed on Vercel. To me, it feels less like a one-time project and more like something that can slowly grow over time.
The guestbook accepts direct submissions, and Ask Ray is a lightweight chat entry. Neither exists to show off. I only wanted the site to have a little more interaction, and a little more real human presence. I never wanted it to be only a polished display board. I wanted it to leave room for small but real connections between people.
Visually, the site has been influenced by some personal websites I like, but I never wanted it to become a standard answer. The current version is cooler, bluer, and uses a light glass texture. I wanted it to feel clean and quiet, but not empty of personality.
Photos, notes, and the resume are separated because I want information and atmosphere to sit side by side instead of being flattened into the same thing.
I think this site will probably never have a moment when it is truly finished. If I build new projects, write new things, or come to understand myself differently, I will keep adding them here. More than making it feel complete, I care whether it stays honest, and whether it still feels like me.
If you are willing to stay here for a little while, then it has already fulfilled part of its meaning.
